LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — It’s been 100 days since superintendent Jhone Ebert took the reigns of the Clark County School District.
At a CCSD work meeting Wednesday evening, Ebert spoke on the progress being made just months after taking over.
She started the session speaking about her goal for CCSD to become a destination district, for increased enrollment and a supportive environment for all staff and students,
Ebert focused on the 4-core academic areas which include pre-k, early childhood literacy, math for middle schoolers and getting students ready for their college and careers.
Ebert received feedback that this was one of the smoothest starts to the school year.
Some of the highlights so far includes, having the highest number of licensed educators on board for the start of the school year. Another big win for her is the finalization of a teacher contract with the Clark County Education Association.
“Thank you to the board for approving the teachers contract, I look forward to the other four contracts as well. I am extremely proud of this team, the regent superintendents, the sasses, the teachers, you start listing them all and you don’t want to miss, but 44,000 human beings that come to work to serve our children,” Ebert said.
Coming up later in the year they will host community listening sessions in preparation to launch a new plan in the spring.
Another goal of hers is to increase the communication from the district to the community. The school district recently launched a podcast that she hosts. Ebert said she wants it to be a space where students, educators and leaders can share ideas.
