KINGMAN, AZ (AZFamily) — One month after Mohave County Sheriff’s Office deputies said the body of a transient Las Vegas woman was found inside a large cardboard box that was dumped out in the desert, there are still no leads or suspects.

The victim’s family is devastated. They said Carolyn Bosher struggled with mental illness and substance abuse, causing her to hop around from sober group home to sober group home for years.

While authorities search for her killer, Bosher’s loved ones want to focus on the good memories, like her talent as an artist and the time she spent with her children and hosting Bible studies.

“There’s nothing that indicates she was killed on scene,” said Anita Mortensen, public information specialist with the Mohave County Sheriff’s Office. “The manner in which she was located indicates that it was very brutal.”

Fingerprints identified the victim in this mysterious case as Bosher, but Mortensen said right now, investigators are not releasing how she was killed.

“I have not been told anything about the word dismembered, mutilated, any of those things,” said Mortensen.

Just a few days before she was found dead east of Kingman near Highway 93, the 57-year-old was arrested for indecent exposure more than 100 miles away in Las Vegas.

Detectives don’t know where she was murdered.

“So anywhere between Las Vegas, where she was released six days prior, and where we located her are a possibility at this point,” said Mortensen.

Nevada court records show she was released on her own recognizance on Saturday, Aug. 30. It’s not clear where she went after that.

Then six days later, on Sept. 5, an Arizona man called 911 around 3:40 p.m. after noticing a suspicious package in a wash on his property.

“This was a large property and the person just indicated that they were out driving around checking on things,” said Mortensen.

Deputies on scene also spoke with a witness who said he saw a car with an open truck in that area the night before.

“I don’t know if anybody would be ruled out as a suspect at this point until we can find more information,” said Mortensen.

Detectives have little to go on, which is why they are now sharing some details with the public.

“There’s major highway corridors between where she was released from custody and where she was located, so there’s a lot of people who may have been in that area at that time who may have seen, like I said, something out of the ordinary at a truck stop, pulled off on the side of the highway. We’re looking for anything at this point,” said Mortensen.
