Michael Jordan and his son Marcus don’t seem to be on the same page about Larsa Pippen.
Just days after the NBA legend said he does not approve of Marcus’ relationship with Larsa — the ex-wife of Jordan’s former Bulls teammate, Scottie Pippen — Marcus claimed the couple did receive Jordan’s stamp of approval.
In a joint interview with Entertainment Tonight published on Wednesday, Marcus explained that his and Larsa’s families are “OK” with their relationship, and that spending time with them over the holidays made things much “easier” for the couple.
However, that wasn’t Marcus responding to Jordan’s comment on Sunday, when the Basketball Hall of Famer said “no” after a paparazzi asked if he approves of the relationship.
ET conducted the interview on Sunday before Jordan was spotted leaving a restaurant in Paris, France, where he was seen laughing and shaking his head when asked about his 32-year-old son and the “Real Housewives of Miami” star, 48.
“Yeah, oh yeah,” Marcus told ET of his father giving the couple his stamp of approval.
“Well, we spent some time together during the holidays,” he said. “She came and visited some of my family, I visited some of her family, so I think that’s kinda what, once we realized our families were OK with it, then I feel like that was easier for us. We spent Thanksgiving together last year and, you know, my family loves her. They think she’s great.”
“And ultimately, I think my family just wants to see me happy. And so as long as I’m happy, they’re happy with, you know, where I’m living.”
Larsa recalled everyone in Marcus’ family “texting you like, ‘what’s going on?’” when the couple first made headlines for their rumored romance in Sept. 2022.
Marcus explained that there was some initial shock early on when his family learned about their relationship.
“Everybody had an opinion at first,” Marcus said. “I think there was some shock and interest early on, but I think that was the whole point of us trying to spend some family time together during the holidays.
“At least for me, if we’re gonna be in the media, you know, I kind of need to introduce you to my mom and my mom’s side and my dad’s side. And so, I think that went well and so far, so good.”
On Sunday, Jordan entertained paparazzi in a rare exchange while leaving dinner at Matignon in Paris, with his wife Yvette Prieto.
That came four months after Larsa said the couple and Marcus’ family were “in a great place” during a television appearance on “The Tamron Hall Show” on March 1.
“I don’t really want to talk about them,” Larsa said about Marcus’ parents at the time. “I feel like it’s not about my parents or his parents. They’re all happy. Our whole family is fine.”
When asked if she feels as though she had Jordan and his ex-wife Juanita Vanoy’s blessing to date their son, Larsa said, “Yeah, I feel like we’re great.”
Marcus and Larsa went public with their relationship in January.
There was speculation about Jordan’s reaction to his son dating his former Bulls teammate — especially since Jordan and Pippen’s relationship has been rocky as of late.
Last month, Larsa and Marcus launched their joint podcast, “Separation Anxiety,” where they dive into their relationship, their pasts and criticisms about their age gap.
The couple will address Jordan’s comments on their podcast this week, Us Weekly reported Wednesday.
