LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – One person is dead after a violent hit-and-run crash in North Las Vegas.
According to North Las Vegas Police, the crash happened at 1:30 a.m. Sunday in the area of Centennial Parkway and Bruce Street.
When police arrived, one vehicle was found fully engulfed in flames with the other having significant damage. An occupant was found inside the vehicle that was on fire and they were pronounced dead on scene.
According to police, a Dodge Challenger was approaching Bruce at a high rate of speed while a Hyundai Sonata was also driving, ahead of the Challenger. Police said the Challenger hit the Sonata from the rear, causing the Sonata to catch fire.
NLVPD said the occupants in the Challenger fled the scene. Speed and impairment are believed to be factors in the crash.
