LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – A 12-year-old girl was arrested Friday night after her father was found dead in a North Las Vegas home.
According to North Las Vegas police, officers conducted a welfare check around 9:30 p.m. in the 3400 block of Mercury Street after a family member expressed concern about the child’s wellbeing.
According to the caller, the child was living with her father in an apartment and stated that her father was possibly dead.
Arriving officers located the unharmed juvenile and a 55-year-old man covered in blood inside the apartment, who was later confirmed dead. Police later learned of previous NLVPD responses to the apartment in December, including an incident of the child running away from home and another in which the child injured her father and was arrested.
The juvenile initially claimed that an intruder had killed her father, but later confessed to stabbing him after an argument. She was then arrested and booked into the Clark County Juvenile Detention Center on a murder charge.
An investigation into the stabbing is ongoing.
