LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – Nevada Attorney General Aaron Ford announced 20 people are facing murder charges related to the death of 3 inmates.

According to AG’s office, the incident occurred on July 30, 2024, at Ely State Prison.

The incident resulted in the death of inmates and five others injured.

Officials report the defendants have been charged for multiple counts including murder with the use of a deadly weapon with intent to help a criminal gang.

The AG’s office thanked the multiple agencies that assisted in this investigation which included Las Vegas Metro Police, the Sparks Police Department, the Reno Police Department, and the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office.

The White Pine County Sheriff’s Office will lead the investigation.
