LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – In a matter of weeks, Las Vegas Valley students will be heading back to school, and they’ll need someone to help keep them safe.
All city management services are looking to hire at least 200 crossing guards to staff every corner of the valley.
Monday, it began searching for ideal candidates to look out for the little ones as they walk or ride back home or on their way to school.
“This is the first of seven events we’re goin to have around the valley,” said Robert Holmes, manager of ACMS Team Nevada. “Today we had about 80 folks that came in. We’re going to walk away hiring a little over 60 of them. It’s very successful.”
Crossing guards typically work an hour in the morning and another hour in the afternoon. Officials say the position pays $17 an hour.
Holmes says it’s the perfect position for someone who likes children and is concerned with their safety.
If you’re interested in applying, officials say a background check is required, so bring two IDs.
