LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – A wildfire has been reported in a rural area southwest of the Las Vegas valley on Monday afternoon.

The fire, which has been dubbed the “Bird Springs Wildfire,” is currently burning at around 25 acres, in the Mountain Springs area near Pahrump Valley Highway.

The Great Basin Coordination Center noted that the fire was initially reported around 11:40 a.m. The cause and fuel of the fire are both currently unknown.

FOX5 has reached out to the Bureau of Land Management for details about efforts to suppress the fire.
