
LAS VEGAS, Nev. (KOLO) – Three men charged with illegally living in Las Vegas made their initial court appearance on Monday.
47-year-old Artemio Valencia-Rodriguez, 33-year-old Uvalfre Mariano Cazares-Guillen, and 27-year-old Ismael Artemio Hidalgo-Gomez are all charged with one count of being a deported alien found living in the United States illegally.
The DOJ says that Valencia-Rodriguez and Cazares-Guillen are both Mexican citizens, while Hidalgo Gomez is a citizen of Guatemala. They say all three were previously deported and removed from the United States before reentering illegally.
Valencia-Rodriguez was remanded to ICE custody on July 1 from the Clark County Detention Center after he had been arrested in February 2024 on two counts of lewdness with a child under 14 and kidnapping a minor. Valencia-Rodriguez had been deported in 2003, and on Aug. 12, 2009, and Aug. 17, 2009, and has two prior felony convictions for possession of a controlled substance and being a felon in possession of a firearm.
Cazares-Guillen was remanded into ICE custody on July 2 after being arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia. He had previously been deported to Mexico in 2018 after being convicted of burglary while in possession of a firearm and robbery.
Hidalgo-Gomez was remanded to ICE custody on July 3 after being arrested for battery domestic violence. The DOJ says he had previously been deported to Guatemala in October 2017, November 2017, and February 2021. He was previously convicted of living in the United States illegally in January 2021.
Valencia-Rodriguez and Hidalgo-Gomez are each facing a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison, three years of parole and a fine of $250,000.
Meanwhile, Cazares-Guillen faces 20 years in prison, three years parole and a fine of $250,000.
