LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – Three coyotes were euthanized after two women were attacked in Henderson.

Nevada Department of Wildlife said game wardens euthanized three coyotes in the Pittman Wash area, one of which was sent for rabies testing. Wardens were unable to recover the other two animals, NDOW said.

NDOW said they are working with the City of Henderson to place permanent signage in the Pittman Wash area after two women were victims of a “sneak attack” in the area.

Officials said there was no indication that feeding of animals led to the attacks, “making the bites even more unusual.”

NDOW said not to feed animals and had these recommendations if you see a coyote:

  1. Keep small children and pets close.
  2. Don’t run or turn away.
  3. Be large and loud.
  4. Don’t corner the animal.
  5. Throw things at it.
  6. Use a commercial repellent.
  7. Never feed wildlife.
