LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – A suspect is facing attempted murder charges after police say he stabbed two women Tuesday night.
Henderson Police said James Atkins, 30, was identified as the suspect accused of stabbing two women in the Cadence area, near Scarlet Sparrow Street and Pacific Sparrow Street just south of the Las Vegas Wash. Police said three people were injured in the stabbing, and one of those injured was the suspect himself.
HPD said they were dispatched to the area around 5:12 p.m. Multiple callers told police there were two women suffering from stab wounds. Henderson Fire found one victim being driven to the hospital and took her via ambulance; the other women was found by police in a walkway on Ruby Sparrow Street. She was later also taken to the hospital by HFD.
Atkins was later found suffering from stab wounds in a desert area near the Las Vegas Wash, HPD said. He was also taken to the hospital for treatment.
FOX5 heard from a man who says he’s the boyfriend of one of the stabbing victims. He did not want to go on camera, but says his girlfriend, in her 30s, is one of the victims. The man also did not say how the victims and stabbing suspect knew one another.
Police said Atkins faces two charges of attempted murder. A court hearing for Atkins was set for Thursday morning.
