LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — Construction is set to begin Monday on a $38 million improvement project along Las Vegas Boulevard North in North Las Vegas, city officials said Friday.
According to the city officials, the Las Vegas Boulevard North Improvement project will upgrade storm drainage systems, modernize underground utilities and repave the roadway along a stretch from East Tonopah Avenue to East Carey Avenue.
City officials said Las Vegas Boulevard North will remain open during construction, but drivers should expect lane closures and traffic shifts and are encouraged to use alternate routes.
The city said that starting Wednesday, April 8, traffic will be shifted to the southbound side of Las Vegas Boulevard North from North Bruce Street to East Carey Avenue for about one month.
Funding for the project comes from the Regional Transportation Commission of Southern Nevada and the Clark County Regional Flood Control District, according to the City of North Las Vegas.
City officials said construction is expected to take about 18 months, with typical work hours from 6:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.
