NORTH LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – North Las Vegas police have identified a 49-year-old man as the suspect in Monday’s deadly hit-and-run.

The man is accused of fleeing the scene of a crash involving a pedestrian on Martin Luther King Boulevard and Craig Road around 1:40 a.m. The pedestrian would die from his injuries the next morning.

On Tuesday, around 6:05 p.m., police received a tip about a sighting of the suspect vehicle in the 1900 block of Double Delight Avenue. At 6:21 p.m., officers would locate an unoccupied white 2017 Nissan NV200 van in the 4000 block of Beauty Secret Drive.

The van was found without a license plate and significant front-end damage.

A witness informed officers that the van was parked by a white male adult wearing a bucket hat and all gray clothing before their arrival. Officers later located 49-year-old Herbert Charles Ridge, who matched the witness’ description, and determined that he was the owner of the van.

Police say Ridge stated that he believed the vehicle was damaged when he hit a “dog or something” early Monday morning. Ridge also confirmed that he was wearing gray shorts and a red shirt at the time.

Ridge has been booked into the North Las Vegas Community Correction Center.

He is facing several charges, including duty to stop at the scene of an accident involving death or personal injury, failure to render aid at a vehicle accident, destroying and/or concealing evidence, and driving with a suspended license.
