LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — The Las Vegas City Council approved an agreement to help reduce copper wire theft at local parks.

Members agreed to a deal with the Southern Nevada Health District to use a $50,000 federal grant to install solar lighting on the Las Vegas Wash Trail.

The city said the lighting will help reduce vandalism and copper wire theft and improve safety overall.

The lighting will go on the trail between Selby Park, East Las Vegas Family Park and Arroyo Vista Park.
