LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – Las Vegas police said a 73-year-old is in critical condition after a crash in the northwest valley.

Police said the crash happened Wendesday around 3:47 p.m. near I-11 and Cheyenne Avenue. Two men drove eastbound on Cheyenne.

For reasons not known yet to police, the 73-year-old sideswept a Mercedes Sprinter van. He would hit a traffic sign trailer at the start of a construction zone. He would drive over the sidewalk on the south side of Cheyenne and hit a cinder block property wall.

Police said he was driving a 2013 Chrysler. He was transported to MountainView Hospital by ambulance and remains in critical condition.

The driver of the Mercedes was a 44-year-old. He did not have any injuries, remained at the scene and showed no signs of impairment.

“This collision remains under investigation by the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department’s Collision Investigation Section,” police said.
