LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — FOX5 has obtained 911 calls from the shooting that left two content creators dead on the Las Vegas Strip on Sunday.

The audio depicts the moment witnesses reported the deadly shooting on the Las Vegas Strip to law enforcement officials. The shooting occurred outside the Bellagio Hotel & Casino just before 11 p.m. on Sunday.

Police said Manuel Ruiz, a 41-year-old YouTube creator from Las Vegas, shot and killed Rodney Finley, 44, and his wife, Tanisha, 34. The victims were pronounced dead at the scene. Hours later, Ruiz surrendered himself to Henderson police.

A friend of the Finleys told FOX5 that the victims were also creators on the YouTube platform who were feuding with the suspected shooter.

“This was brewing, this brewed for two years,” said Derek Ware, a friend of Rodney who was known online as “Finny Da Legend.”

The shooting was live-streamed on Rodney’s YouTube account, showing a woman, later identified as Rodney’s wife, confronting the shooter. After a short confrontation, the suspect fired shots before the live feed came to an end.

Ruiz told Las Vegas Metropolitan Police officials that the shooting was self-defense, saying that Rodney had aggressively reached for his waistband and that Tanisha had “a shiny black object in her hand,” which he believed to be a firearm.

Ruiz faces two counts of open murder for the Finleys’ deaths, and remains in police custody without bail. Steve Wolfson, Clark County District Attorney, said that prosecutors are considering the death penalty.
