LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – A suspect called Las Vegas police and said he “just killed somebody” after fatally shooting a woman and injuring another.
Las Vegas police accuse Adrian Rodriguez-Guillen of open murder, attempted murder, kidnapping, burglary, and firing a weapon into an occupied vehicle.
According to an arrest report, Guillen shot and killed his ex-wife’s new girlfriend. It happened afternoon of January 3 near Tropicana and Nellis.
The arrest report said his ex-wife and her girlfriend were in a car together when Guillen cut them off, stopped the car and used a rifle to shoot the girlfriend.
Guillen’s ex-wife told police she was also shot, but believes that he didn’t mean to and it was an accident. Guillen also used a handgun afterward and threatened his life.
She told police that when Guillen realized her girlfriend was dead, he called police.
FOX5 obtained the 911 calls from that day. The first person to report the scene was a driver passing by.
“I saw somebody get out and I figured it would be like a road rage situation, maybe a fight,” the 911 call said. “But I wasn’t expecting to hear gunshots.”
Police said their ShotSpotter heard at least eight gunshots in the area.
The second caller was Guillen.
He told police people were injured, “I just killed somebody. Yeah, I shot them.”
In the call, women can be heard moaning in pain and screaming in the background. Guillen was silent for the next two minutes as police were trying to get more information.
“Come on, we need paramedics out here, man,” Guillen said.
The phone disconnects once officers get on scene.
Police received a third and final call for the shooting.
“There were gunshots right in front of my house,” the last caller said. “There’s two cars that crashed right in front of my driveway and there’s a lady yelling.”
The call ends with her seeing officers put handcuffs on Guillen.
Guillen’s ex-wife was transported to Sunrise Hospital. There, she told police she and Guillen were married for a long time, but later divorced. They stayed together to take care of their seven children.
However, she says she stopped her relationship with him after meeting her new girlfriend. She said he grew angry and jealous.
The day of the shooting, her girlfriend picked her up to learn how to become a DoorDash driver.
Guillen remains in custody and faces a preliminary hearing on February 19 at 9:30 a.m.
