LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – A day after announcing it plans to move to the Arts District for more room, FOX5 is learning more details about the Neon Museum’s decision.
“The Arts District is an incredibly vibrant place,” Aaron Berger, the museum’s executive director, said Thursday. “It is locally driven. It is a historic neighborhood. It has a buzz with restaurant and bars.”
When it moves to the Arts District, the museum will triple its current footprint in the form of two locations, which will be minutes apart from each other by foot. Thanks to that increased space, it will be able to showcase more of its collection. Currently, only a third of The Neon Museum’s artifacts can be displayed.
In addition to more space, another key change will be indoor attractions at both new locations, one of which will be on the 9th and 10th floors of a parking garage.
“It is a great way to explain the evolution of the city from that perspective, from that view point,” Berger said excitedly. “The parking garage butts up against the Evel Knievel Museum, so you’ll have that attraction as well.”
This project, along with the Evel Knievel Museum, are being built along with Dapper Companies.
The move will happen over the course of the next few years, with a goal of opening the two new locations sometime in 2027.
