LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – Last month, Henderson police found a “puppy mill” with 39 dogs while exercising a search warrant for the home. Now, a Las Vegas animal shelter say they are becoming available for adoption.
The dogs appear to mostly be French Bulldogs. FOX5 first reported that there was also a nursing mother and four puppies. There were also four other pregnant dogs.

The dogs have since been on a legal hold because the investigation into their case was open.
While executing a search warrant, Henderson Police arrested two men, Roberto Gonzalez-Fleites and Yankiel Gonzalez, on drug charges unrelated to the dogs. It is unclear if the men had a permit to own the animals, and even if they did, the number of dogs present exceeded the legal limit.
The owner of the dogs filed an “order for return of seized property” earlier this month for the pregnant dogs. The claim was meant to get the pregnant dogs to a third-party veterinarian to help them give birth.

FOX5 has not received an update on the pregnant dogs since.
The Animal Foundation says the dogs going up for adoption are still passing behavior and medical evaluations. For those interested in adopting the dogs, the shelter says to monitor their website closely.
“Adoptions are done on a first come first serve basis,” the shelter said. “People generally line up outside before we open.”
