LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – Las Vegas firefighters responded to a house fire in the Desert Shores area on Friday morning.

Las Vegas Fire & Rescue received calls about the fire around 10:29 a.m. and learned that a person was still in the residence. Dispatchers ensured the person made it out of the home before firefighters arrived.

An initial investigation revealed that the fire began in the chimney while welding work was being done on the home.

The first unit arrived on the scene five minutes after assignment, and the fire was extinguished around 11:02 a.m.

No injuries were reported in the fire, but one person has been displaced.
