LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – Sound playing on Sphere’s exosphere had some people living nearby upset about how loud it could get.
Wednesday, the Clark County Zoning Commission gave Sphere the go-ahead to use sound on the exosphere, but there are conditions.
Since it’s sound debut on Fourth of July, some residents said the noise was too much. It was powerful enough to rattle nearby windows and disturb resident peace. The Park Towers homeowners association worked out an agreement with Sphere representatives and took that agreement for approval to the commission.
The conditions for the waiver were granted. It says the sound is limited to 12 events per year with sound levels no louder than 85 decibels.
Hours will be limited to 9 a.m. to 11:30 p.m. except on New Year’s when the show will go to 1 a.m.
Nearby residents will be notified at least 14 days before a sound-enhanced event. The plan will be reviewed after one year.
Clark County commissioner Tick Segerblom says there will be ways to verify if it gets too loud.
“We’re going to be able to monitor this stuff,” he said. “It’s all recorded so if someone complains and says ‘it’s too loud Saturday night’ we can go back to look at the recording data to see if it’s true.”
Segerblom also urged people who live by the Sphere to contact his office if they find that the venue violated any conditions of the agreement.
