CARSON CITY, Nev. (KOLO) – The Nevada Supreme Court has ruled that the Green Party cannot appear on the ballot for the November election.

In a 5-2 ruling, the court determined that the petition circulated by the party contained the circulator affidavit for initiative and referendum petitions, rather than those for minor party ballot access.

The court said that the circulators of minor party ballot access petitions must verify that they believe each person signing the petition is a registered voter in their county.

The decision comes after a challenge from the Nevada Democratic Party, which said that the Green Party’s signatures were invalid because of the incorrect affidavit.

The state Supreme Court rejected the Green Party’s argument that the District Court had erred by considering the arguments raised in the amended complaint.
