LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – Investigation revealed that reckless drivers who claimed one life were driving over 90 mph, according to an arrest report from Las Vegas police.
Police said the crash happened just after 1 a.m. on Sept 2. Police said two vehicles drove side-by-side on the southbound lanes of Eastern Avenue.
Francisco Ramos, an 18-year-old from Las Vegas, drove a RAM 2500 and a Alfredo Chavez-Rios, 18 from Las Vegas, drove a GMC Sierra.
According to an arrest report, the two were driving at least 90 miles per hour. At the same moment, the driver of a Chevrolet Tahoe, Fabian Rene Villa, drove westbound on Searles Avenue approaching Eastern Avenue.
Police investigated surveillance footage at a nearby Circle K at the intersection. It showed that the Tahoe driver failed to stop at a red light.
The driver of the RAM and GMC would then hit the Tahoe.
Villa and Ramos were taken to UMC Trauma where Villa would die. Police say Ramos is in critical condition.
Chavez-Rios faces two counts of reckless driving resulting in death or substantial bodily harm. He is due back in court on Oct. 10, but he posted a surety bond.
