LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – Las Vegas Athletic Clubs says they are hiring and training lifeguards to reopen their pool.

FOX5 first reported the story earlier this summer. The Southern Nevada Health District removed lifeguard waivers from LVAC after a patron died.

The waiver allowed the gym to monitor the pool with video surveillance instead of an in-person lifeguard.

In late August, the gym said they are working with the health district to come to an agreement on lifeguard requirements.

Thursday, FOX5 saw obtained a release to gym members saying their final lifeguard plan is “caught in the complexities of local government processes.”

The gym says they are eager to reopen the pools as soon as possible.

LVAC says the spas, steam rooms and saunas remain open.
