LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – Monday, Clark County scheduled an information session for foster parenting and volunteering.
The session starts at 6 p.m. and ends around 8 p.m. The session will be at Mountain’s Edge Master Association building at 8015 Blue Diamond Road Suite 120.
Clark County says those attending could expect a chance to learn more about becoming a foster parent or volunteering as a Court Appointed Special Advocate.
The county says about 3,000 children are in foster care on about any given day.
“Becoming a foster parent or a CASA volunteer can significantly impact a child’s life, providing them stability, care and hope,” said Clark County Family Services Director Jill Marano. “Attending this session is the first step towards making a meaningful change.”
The county says CASA volunteers are trained advocates who provide recommendations to the court regarding the safety, permanence, and well-being of their assigned children.
Foster caregivers act as parents, taking children to daycare or school, attending doctor or therapy appointments, providing meals, and creating a nurturing environment. Clark County says they play a pivotal role in reunification with birth families by facilitating family visits and maintaining open communication.
