LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – For 80 minutes, UNLV women’s soccer kept San Diego State’s high-powered attack in check before two late goals by the Aztecs decided the 2-0 outcome Sunday at the SDSU Sports Deck.

After posting a shutout in their start to Mountain West play, the Rebels (3-6-1, 1-1-0) stretched their streak of consecutive minutes without allowing a goal to 170 minutes. The Aztecs, who scored five goals in their MW opener, weren’t able to pull away from UNLV until their 81st-minute goal and another score in the 87th minute.

Providing the support to the Scarlet & Gray backline, junior goalkeeper Hanne Breur made a career-high 11 saves that came on each of the first 11 shots on goal fired by SDSU in the contest. She finished the weekend with16 stops across the Rebels 1-1 split of their two road matches.

The Rebels’ attack pressed forward throughout the match, posting double-digit shots with 14 total targets and six shots on goal to fall within seven of the Aztecs’ 13 shots on frame. Sophomores Trinity Buchanan and Cassie Villanueva combined for four Scarlet & Gray shots on goal as they recorded two apiece.

UP NEXT: UNLV returns home to kick off a pair of doubleheaders with men’s soccer at Peter Johann Memorial starting with Thursday’s 5:30 p.m. contest vs. Colorado College. A free tailgate will be hosted by the UNLV Soccer Foundation at 4:30 p.m. ahead of the two matches.

NOTES:

  • Continuing her strong play in net for the Rebels, Breur recorded at least five saves for the fourth time in the last five contests.
  • UNLV continued their display of aggressive attacking, recording double-digit shot attempts for the ninth time overall in 10 games this season.
