LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5)—There are no public viewing areas for the Tropicana Hotel implosion, which is set for 2:30 a.m. Wednesday. So spectators are scrambling to get a front-row seat, some booking hotel rooms with a view of the action.

Many hotels with views of the Tropicana, including the MGM Grand, Excalibur, Mandalay Bay, and Nirvana, are sold out for Tuesday night.

FOX5 spoke to a couple of tourists visiting from Australia, who said they didn’t even know about the implosion until they checked in on Monday, so the timing is a happy coincidence.

“When we checked in, our hotel concierge let us know that there’s going to be an implosion of the building tomorrow night, so we just got lucky that we’re going to have a pretty unobstructed view,” said Hannah Tarry, visiting Las Vegas from Sydney.

Now, they’re feeling fortunate to have the rare chance to watch the Tropicana implosion live since many surrounding hotels are sold out of rooms for that night.

“I’m feeling more compelled to watch it now knowing that so many people came to see it. Otherwise, I’d feel like I’m missing out,” shared Tarry.

“Feeling lucky. Lucky Australians we are,” expressed Jesse Ball, visiting Las Vegas from Sydney.

Those visitors say they’ll be watching the implosion from a viewing party at the Nirvana Hotel.

FOX5 stopped by the Nirvana Hotel Monday night to confirm the details for that watch party, but the office was already closed.
