LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – After leading the 15-team field with a 15-under 273 Monday, the UNLV men’s golf team took the lead in the team and individual standings after the second round of the Trinity Forest Invitational being hosted by SMU at Trinity Forest Golf Club (par 72, 7,617 yards).

The Rebels, who for the second straight day posted a season-low single-round team score, moved two spots up the leaderboard at 26-under 550 through 36 holes for a one-shot lead over day-one leader USC (-25). Sophomore Zach Little also surged to the top of the individual leaderboard from his previous tied-for-10th standing as the Scarlet & Gray’s low scorer with a second-round 8-under 64 and 12-under 132 for the tournament.

Paving the way for the jump, each of UNLV’s four individual scorers finished with par-or-better scores in the day-two tally. Right behind Little were senior Trevor Lewis’ 5-under 67, senior Caden Fioroni’s 2-under 70 and junior Wyatt Plattner’s even-par 72. Adding a sub-par round of his own, sophomore Dillon Dean shot a 1-under 71 as the Rebels’ player competing as an individual.

Following the second round, Fioroni (-6) and Lewis (-6) are tied for 11th, while Plattner (-2) is tied for 27th. Also in the Rebel lineup, junior Brett Sawaia (+4) stands in a tie for 59th. Dean’s 1-under scorecard through 36 holes, meanwhile, place him in a tie for 32nd.

In the individual top-5 standings, Little holds a one-shot advantage over the Trojans’ Jack Buchanan (-11) in second.
