LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – The implosion of the Tropicana Las Vegas will go down as part of history.
It is a moment that tourists also do not want to miss.
FOX5 caught up with Mike Wiza, from Stevens Point, Wisconsin.
Wiza said he has never seen an implosion. As soon as a date was set, he booked his flight to Las Vegas.
Wiza tells FOX5 he has made many trips to the Tropicana since the 90s, recalling the many laughs he had watching Rich Little at the Laugh Factory.
TROPICANA LEGACY: Iconic era for Las Vegas comes to a close
“The stories the man had. It was literally going back in time and you are at the Tropicana. He’s telling stories about all the people he has met and you can almost float back in history,” Wiza said.
We asked Wiza what he thought when he saw the Tropicana bare just hours before implosion.
“You know it’s come a long way, it doesn’t even look like the Tropicana anymore. They took everything out of it,” Wiza said. “It’s gone. It’s like the smile of the Strip is now missing a tooth.”
