SEATTLE, Wash. (FOX5) – Behind a late second-half goal, UNLV men’s soccer secured a 1-1 draw against Seattle on the road in Thursday night’s WAC matchup at Championship Field.

Battling a 1-0 deficit to the Redhawks (5-3-3, 2-0-1), a 66th-minute equalizer by senior captain Louis Hiepen gave the Rebels (3-6-2, 0-1-2) their second straight match with a point in the WAC standings.

Being held to only five shots didn’t hold the Scarlet & Gray back as it racked up three of its five targets within a three-minute span that culminated in Hiepen’s score. Hiepen scored after he followed up his own header that deflected back toward him near the right post to respond to SU’s 29th-minute goal.

On the defensive end, the Scarlet & Gray hunkered down to keep Seattle U out of the goal for the final 61 minutes of play after facing 22 shots in the contest. That stretch of stingy defense included four of sophomore goalkeeper Hugo Lemos’ six saves during the last 31 minutes.

UP NEXT: The Rebels will search for more points during their road trip with a 1:30 p.m. matchup on Sunday at San Jose State.
