LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – A colorful celebration of pride in downtown Las Vegas.
The “Come Out With Pride” parade and party is being held on this “National Coming Out” day, as the city celebrates the 41st year of Las Vegas pride.
It was a family affair at the annual Las Vegas Pride Night Parade.
Approximately 20,000 people filled the streets of downtown Las Vegas for the big bash, like Joshiie Birdine.
“Coming together from all walks of life, having a good time, celebrating each others differences. It’s a good moment for us,” Birdine said.
The good moment was also met with emotion, after asking what pride means to Stephanie Clark.
“Just everything. Sorry,” Clark said. “So many years they weren’t represented. I think it’s important to support everybody. Who they love. Who they want to be with. It’s the most important thing. Love is love.”
Everyone was a good sport about balancing the fun with the feeling of the evening, good vibes only and inclusion for all.
And speaking of sports we had to hear from the Grand Marshal herself, Sydney Colson of the Las Vegas Aces, who stated the obvious about why pride in Sin City is in October.
“I’ve never been to pride in Vegas. We know typically it’s in June, but it’s too hot. So, it was just the perfect timing,” Colson said. “Unfortunately we lost, so I’m able to be here but, it’s still really exciting I’m with my girlfriend. “It’s just a cool moment to come out here and celebrate equality and love being the most important thing, and having fun with the people of the city of Las Vegas!”
The pride parade is one of the largest civic events in the city.
