LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – Robert Telles is set to appear for sentencing Wednesday morning.

In August, a jury found the former Clark County official guilty of stabbing Las Vegas investigative reporter Jeff German to death outside his home in September 2022.

On Wednesday, Judge Michelle Leavitt will hand down his sentence, which could be affected by enhancements since German was over 60 years old.

The jury recommended that Telles serve life in prison with the possibility of parole after 20 years.

Sources close to the case tell FOX5 that Telles will be speaking during the hearing. German’s family members are also expected to speak.

Members of the public administration offices, members of German’s family, and District Attorney Steve Wolfson are all present in the courtroom.

The hearing will begin at 8:30 a.m.
