LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – Construction continues at the intersection of Flamingo and Koval as a temporary bridge for the Formula 1 circuit goes up.

Officials say businesses in the area can be accessed. However, a FOX5 photojournalist was initially denied access to a business there.

“Just to let you know, the road is closed, you’re not going to get through there,” said a flagger near the intersection.

Once the photojournalist explained his title, he was allowed access.

FOX5 video shows that construction crews are stopping drivers at the access point for businesses in the area.

FOX5 reached out to the Las Vegas Grand Prix about interactions like this.

They say flaggers are out there to ensure that drivers are going to access businesses within the intersection and not try to cut through the ARCO gas station to access Flamingo Road.

“We listened to the interaction between your colleague and our flagger, and the flagger handled it correctly. We learned that people were trying to cut through ARCO to access Flamingo, so our flaggers were ensuring that your colleague was, in fact, going to be a customer at ARCO to be respectful of that business,” Formula 1 said. “He was making your colleague aware that he couldn’t get through to Flamingo and your colleague acknowledged that and access was provided.”
