LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – The UNLV men’s soccer team grabbed its fourth consecutive shutout and extended its unbeaten streak to six matches at Utah Valley in Thursday night’s scoreless draw during WAC play at Clyde Field.

This is the first time the Rebels (4-6-5, 1-1-5) have posted at least four consecutive clean sheets since the 1985 season. With the result against the Wolverines (6-5-4, 1-3-2), UNLV gains another crucial point in the WAC standings on their quest toward booking a conference tournament spot with two games remaining.

Leading the Scarlet & Gray’s seventh clean sheet of the season, sophomore goalkeeper Hugo Lemos also stretched his active shutout streak to four matches after making two saves.

As a defensive unit, Lemos and the Rebel backline pushed their consecutive minutes without conceding a goal streak to 421 minutes.

On the attacking side, the Rebels tallied two shots on goal off the feet of senior Gabe Sanchez and sophomore Kai Merrill to match UVU’s pair of shots on target. Merrill recorded his with a low
rolling shot in the 59th minute and Sanchez threatened with a line drive from inside the corner of the 18.

UP NEXT: UNLV will play its second to last game of the regular season in Sunday’s 2 p.m. meeting at Air Force.
