LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – An argument over loud music led to a deadly stabbing in central Las Vegas.

FOX5 obtained an arrest report for Aristides Rafael Matute. The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department accuses him of open murder and assault with a deadly weapon.

The stabbing happened at an apartment near Decatur Boulevard and Rancho Drive. It was the early morning hours of Oct. 17.

Las Vegas police received a call reporting a fight. When officers arrived, they found two Hispanic men holding each other down. One of them was Matute.

Officers would put him in custody.

Officers entered the apartment and found a man inside with stab wounds. He later died at UMC. Matute was also transported to UMC for “unknown injuries.”

Police started their investigation into the stabbing. They interviewed the family who lived at the address.

In one interview, a family member said they came from Venezuela to Las Vegas for asylum. His father was the victim and his brother-in-law, Matute, stabbed him.

That night, the family laid in bed with Matute playing music loudly. The family asked him to turn down the music, but he refused.

Matute started an argument and fight with the witness’s father.

According to the report, Matute grabbed a knife by the side of his bed and stabbed him multiple times.

Matute tried to run away from the scene, but was held down by family.

Police officers would later find the knife behind a couch in the living room.

Because of the suspect’s medical condition, police were unable to speak with Matute.

From police investigation, officers arrested Matute for one count of open murder with a deadly weapon.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Nov. 19 ast 9 a.m.
