LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – The Reimagine Boulder Highway construction project will include efforts to reduce flood risks in Henderson.

According to city officials, a storm drain will be installed at the intersection of Sunset and Boulder Highway to improve driving conditions during severe weather.

Beginning Nov. 4, select median access points will be closed around Lake Mead Parkway for construction.

Officials say the work done in these areas are needed when they begin narrowing the median. They hope this will help limit the number of unprotected turns.

The City of Henderson has scheduled work to begin on Nov. 12 and expects the project to take nearly 3 months.

Expect Sunset Road to be closed in both directions east of Boulder Highway during this time. Westbound lanes will remain open, but motorists are encouraged to utilize Galleria Drive to access l-11 and Warm Springs Road to Gibson Road.
