LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – One person was found dead after a fire at a vacant apartment building on Las Vegas Boulevard, near Silverado Ranch, around 3:15 a.m. Saturday.
Dennis Snapp, president of the Paradise Spa Homeowner’s Association, said the property is in the process of being shut down, and there are many empty units, like the one where this fire started.
“We had a fire in a vacant unit, which has burned 4 units,” he told FOX5.
The Clark County Fire Department said they found a body during their search after fighting the flames.
The victim has not been identified, and the cause of death is still being investigated.
However, Snapp does not believe it was a resident of the complex.
“The building was secured yesterday before close of business at 5:00,” he said.
Snapp also says this isn’t the first, second, or third time that a building in this same complex has caught fire.
“One was caused by a homeless person moving into an empty unit, stealing power from another unit, and catching the building on fire,” said Snapp. “One was caused by a lady throwing water on a grease fire. The fire next to us here was caused by kids playing with matches in the closet.”
The cause of Saturday’s fatal fire is still under investigation.
