LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – On Friday November 8th, 2024, we brought you the breaking news of a reckless driver who ran a red light, killing two children. Police still haven’t found that driver.

Now, as the family mourns, a co-worker of the mother is speaking out about her tragic loss.

That Amazon employee who has worked with the mother of four for years was understandably emotional when talking about what happened at the intersection of Flamingo and Pecos.

He says it’s even more heartbreaking, knowing two of her children are no longer with us.

“She loves her kids dearly. That’s all she talks about, is her kids,” co-worker, Earl Saulter said.

The family’s GoFundMe page, which was set up by the mother’s sister, shares their story.

She’s asking community members to come together and raise money for funeral expenses so that Cynthia Alvarado’s children, 11-year-old, Dante and 6-year-old Taaliyah, will have a proper funeral when they quote, “bury our beautiful little angels.”

The outpouring of support isn’t lost on Alvarado’s co-worker.

“Even talking about it like gets me emotional. I’m glad everybody’s rallied supporting her that just, it’s just a testament of the type of person that she is,” Saulter said.

But when thinking of that horrible night, Saulter worries about the young mother, and how life changed for Alvarado and her family in a split second.

“I just hope that you know she can pull through and come through for her remaining kids and herself, most importantly,” Saulter said.

According to the GoFundMe writeup, Alvarado got into that deadly crash “caused by a stolen vehicle going over 135 miles per hour trying to get away from the police.”

FOX5 reached out to Metro about those claims and will update this story when we hear back.

But we do know the driver of a Lexus flew through the intersection at a red light, hitting Alvarado’s SUV, pushing it into two other cars.

The Lexus driver left the scene, and police are still looking for them.

Saulter has a message for the person behind the wheel. “It was a heinous crime and terrible situation. I still be honest, I don’t even know because I feel rage. Nobody should have to go through something like that,” Saulter said.

Again, FOX5 asked Metro several questions about this case after hours.

Mainly, was the car stolen, was there a pursuit and what about the two passengers in the Lexus who might be able to identify the driver who police are still looking for.

We’ll update this story when we get those answers.

So far the GoFundMe has raised more than $10,000. You can read more about the family and donate right here.
