LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – The man who once owned three Valley Mexican restaurants is heading to federal prison for skimming millions of dollars from sales and filing false income tax returns.
A federal judge on Thursday sentenced 64-year-old Raul Gil to 37 months in prison. Gil owns owned three Casa Don Juan restaurants here in Las Vegas.
Prosecutors say between 2014 and 2018, Gil had managers and internal bookkeepers create false sales numbers that underreported the cash taken in. They estimate he collected more than $5 million while reporting tax losses of around $1.6 million.
Gil’s sentence includes $2.2 million in restitution. He’ll also have to serve three years of supervised release.
