LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – Governor Joe Lombardo said Nevada’s election system needs “serious reforms” after results were certified Tuesday.

The Nevada Supreme Court and the Secretary of State certified the 2024 General Election.

“I’m grateful for the work of the Nevada Secretary of State and Supreme Court,” Lombardo said in a statement.

However, his call for reform comes after many incidents throughout Nevada counties.

On Election Day, Pahrump voters waited over three hours for voting machines. Some residents had to vote on paper.

When Clark County was close to certifying results, over a thousand mail ballots were found and not yet tabulated. However, this did not change any result.

“The time it takes to count ballots and finalize our elections in Nevada is simply unacceptable,” he said. “Nevadans deserve timely election results.”

Lombardo said it’s not a complex issue, and all ballots should be received by Election Day.

“This must be immediately addressed in the upcoming legislative session,” he said.
