RENO, Nev. (KOLO) – A man has been arrested after police say fired shots near Yvonne Shaw Middle School Monday.
At around 11:45 a.m., the Washoe County School Police reported hearing the sounds of gunfire in the area of the school. Police learned the shots likely originated from a residence on the 800 block of Alena Way in Sparks.
Police responded to the area and made verbal contact from outside the residence. A man exited the home without incident and was arrested and charged with aiming and/or discharging a weapon at another person.
No injuries were reported and there is no ongoing threat to the public.
The incident caused Spanish Springs High School and Yvonne Shaw Middle School to lockdown that have since been lifted.
