LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – Some notable Clark County School District alumni were honored Saturday night during the Public Education Foundation’s annual Golden Apple Gala at the Paris Hotel.
The 2025 CCSD Alumni of the Year honorees included 2015 Bonanza High School graduate Alex Bybee — the founder of Bybee Co. and former Chief Strategy Officer for Communities in Schools of Nevada — and Bo Bernard — who graduated from Bonanza High School in 1991 and is now the Vice President of Economic Development at UNLV.
The honorees shared how their time at CCSD set them on a path to success.
“I felt like I had an awesome education at the Clark County School District, one that prepared me for all of the good things that have happened since then. And to a significant degree, it’s because of the teachers I had. I can trace lessons I learned from each one of them all the way up to my life today,” said Bernhard.
“It’s inspirational, right?” said Public Education Foundation Chairman Peter Guzman. “Especially for young people to see actual folks that are now very successful who went through our school systems, some of the same schools they’re at right now and stayed here and still had a very successful career and are continuing to be leaders in our community.”
The alumni honorees hope their stories can serve as inspiration for the next generation of CCSD students with big dreams.
“With the spring semester ahead, I would say for students looking for a little bit of motivation, one thing that’s clear is that success is not a straight line,” said Bybee. “Stay focused on being the best you you can be, and share your gifts with the world because we need it now more than ever.”
This year was the launch of the CCSD Alumni of the Year award, which will honor CCSD graduates for years to come, celebrating their continued contributions to our community.
