LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – A Clark County firefighter has been arrested and charged with multiple counts of possession of child pornography.
According to an arrest report, Las Vegas police were notified after a Clark County firefighter found a cell phone containing Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM) under a bed mattress at Fire Station 21 on January 2. The firefighter picked up the phone and looked through it in an attempt to identify its owner and he “inadvertently found hundreds of CSAM images,” according to the report.
Another firefighter walked by and the two discussed what was found, agreeing that it was CSAM. They immediately stopped going through the contents of the phone. Text messages revealed the owner of the phone was Isiah Tureaud, 34.
Firefighters confirmed that Tureaud was the last employee to sleep on that bed and they reported this to supervisors. They determined that the suspect was on duty the morning the phone was found.
Investigators obtained a telephonic search warrant for multiple devices containing CSAM, including a Motorola cell phone, a 16 GB thumb drive and an additional thumb drive. On-scene previews of the cell phone found hundreds of CSAM images, including a folder named “9 year old.”
Another cell phone and the two thumb drives were found hidden in a sock in Tureaud’s locker, according to police. An investigator said that these devices contained thousands of CSAM images.
Police contacted the suspect at about 8 a.m. on January 3. He was read his Miranda Rights and agreed to speak to police, giving them a “full confession,” according to the report. He admitted that the phone and two thumb drives belonged to him. He was booked into the Clark County Detention Center without incident.
Tureaud is facing three charges of possession of visual pornography of a person under the age of 16. His next appearance in Clark County Justice Court is scheduled for February 5.
