LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – Henderson Animal Care and Control looking for the person responsible for illegally shooting a red-tailed hawk by a pellet gun animal control says the red-tailed hawk was found near I-11 and Lake Mead Parkway.

The raptor had a severe wing fracture.

Henderson Animal Care and Control says the bird was euthanized.

It says it impacts the Red-Tailed Hawks mate -because they form lifelong mates.

And these birds are federally protected which is why the City of Henderson wants to find whoever did this.

The person who shot the hawk could face felony charges.
