ID thieves take information like names, addresses, social security numbers and bank accounts.
Then they use them to open new accounts, get a job under the victim’s name, steal tax refunds and health insurance to get medical care.
Victims may not know about it until these accounts go to collections or a judgement is served for no payments.
To avoid becoming a victim, check account statements carefully. Look for purchases, transaction and changes not personally made.
