LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – The Nevada Department of Corrections reported five prisoner deaths, including three convicted murderers.
They all died late January into early February.
Offender John Stinchfield, convicted for murder in the first degree and attempted murder, died at Ely State Prison Feb. 5. He was serving 576 months to life with the possibility of parole.
He came to NDOC on Dec. 13, 2000 from Lyon County.
Offender Dennis Kopp died at Carson Tahoe Medical Center on Feb. 2. He was 72. He was facing a sentence of 120 to 300 months at the Northern Nevada Correction Center for murder in the second degree.
He came to NDOC on Aug. 30, 2017 from Clark County.
Charles Walker died at High Desert State Prison in Indiana Springs on Feb. 1. He was 46. He was serving a life sentence for murder in the first degree, robbery, conspiracy to commit a violent crime and use of a deadly weapon enhancement.
He came to NDOC on Dec. 6, 2005 from Clark County.
Offender Anthony Silveria died at Northern Nevada Correctional Center on Feb. 1. He was 62. He was serving a sentence of 60 to 152 months for a grand larceny and burglary.
He came to NDOC on Oct. 11, 2023 from Douglas County.
Offender Orlando Mays died at Renown Medical Center on January 25. He was 41. He was serving a sentence of 36 to 120 months at Northern Nevada Correctional Center in Carson City for possession of a controlled substance.
He came to NDOC on Oct. 20, 2023 from Clark County.
These deaths were reported after next-of-kin was notified. Officials say autopsies have been requested for all deaths.
