LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – A Las Vegas trucking company has offered up to $90,000 a year for a driving job.
“That’s definitely a good wage, even for someone with a college degree. Most people aren’t even making that much,” said Ronald Nneji.
UNLV graduate Ronald Nneji is the owner of Las Vegas trucking company Precision Logistics, which hauls general freight around the United States.
Truck drivers have commanded higher salaries because of an ongoing truck driver shortage.
FOX5 reported three years ago how the trucking industry was short 80,000 drivers.
The American Trucking Associations projects the shortage could increase to 160,000 by 2028. The group cites an aging driver population and increases in freight volumes. One of the big impacts of the shortage could be supply chain disruptions, meaning a rise in prices for consumer goods.
Along with pay, another way to reduce the shortage is to improve conditions for drivers. Nneji’s ad says the job involves “Guaranteed home time, weekends off.”
“It’s definitely important. Especially if a driver has a family and kids. I try to make sure that we’re always getting them back in time, whether it’s for birthdays, Valentines, Christmas,” expressed Nneji.
