LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – Spring Valley High School’s principal sent a parent letter out about homelessness in the area.

The Clark County School District sent the letter to FOX5 Thursday. It’s from Principal Tara Powell.

“The safety of our students is our number one priority. As always, we want to keep you informed of important matters happening within our school community,” the letter reads.

Powell says the school’s noticed an increase in the homeless population at at a nearby park on Twain.

“I would like to remind students and their families to avoid the park and the nearby area if possible or stay vigilant while in the area out of an abundance of caution,” Powell says.

FOX5 is asking the district if school police are working with Las Vegas police on this issue.
