LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – Cybercriminals use some anti-social behavior to get access into personal information.

The latest scam focuses on Facebook. Targets would get an email saying that their page violates copyright laws and it urges the victim to log on immediately to file an appeal and avoid losing access to the account.

The email will look legitimate, including a very real-looking Facebook logo, but it’s a fake. The Facebook support page is also fake.

When user info is entered, the bad actors steal it to commit more crimes against the victim and others.

To avoid falling victim to this type of phishing scam, be suspicious of unusual emails.

Facebook does not email users threatening immediate action. Only log on to your social media accounts using the official website or mobile app.

Don’t click on any links claiming to be from a platform.

Finally, remember that spelling counts. Imposter emails often include spelling and grammar mistakes.
