LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – Las Vegas police have arrested a suspect in the murder of a man whose remains were found east of the valley last year.

30-year-old Dandre Owens was already in custody when he was identified as the suspect, police said Wednesday. He was rebooked on open murder, kidnapping, and other charges Tuesday.

The victim’s remains were found on Aug. 9, 2024, near Lake Mead Boulevard and Pabco Road in a desert area. Police added that his body was found “in an advanced state of decomposition.”

An autopsy conducted on Aug. 10 found that the man suffered from gunshot wounds to the head.

Court records reveal that Owens was previously in custody on theft, forgery, and burglary charges.

He made his initial appearance on the new charges in Justice Court Tuesday morning.

This is a developing story, check back later for updates.
